April 2008

Let's make a list of songs with "coffee" in the lyrics

It's morning and I pour myself coffee
I drink it til the kitchen stops shaking
I'm backing out of the driveway
And into creation

The verse above is from "Table for One" by Liz Phair. There must be lots of songs that mention coffee. Hit that comments link you Zoners.

And a good time was had by all

Blogpic

T was too busy having a good time to worry too much about sending pix home but he did put his iPhone to good use. Here's our boy BEFORE he was covered with melted butter and dead crustacean. The disturbing photo on the right looks like boys-night-out. We're not sure what's happening at the end of the table.
We've got a few more pix here and if other members of the Boston-Or-Bust Team have pix, we'll add them later. Welcome back T and C.

Live from the Zone?

We're playing around with live video and hope to be streaming live from the Coffee Zone Thursday morning, probably between 6:30 - 7:30 a.m. Central Time. Don't expect anything more exciting that Dan goofing off between customers. If we can make this work, we'll think of some more interesting way to use the technology. Maybe the Taisir Helmet-cam?

When the cat's away...

Kirk Schreiber sips a hot cup of Seattle's Finest while enjoying the plush accommodations at the Coffee Zone.

Coffee Zone Google Juice

A Google search for "coffee zone" is now ranked #5 of 20,000+ results. That rank is probably higher than one might expect because this blog is "connected" to a blog that's been around since early 2002. But hey, we don't care HOW we get to number one, as long as we get there.

UPDATE (4/23/08): We've slipped back to page 2. More work to do.

Chocolate covered espresso beans

Coffeebeans It's like having a double espresso in your pocket... without the mess. We get our Chocolate Espresso Beans from the same gourmet supply house where we get our biscotti.

Our espresso beans are covered in rich, dark chocolate and make the perfect mid-morning pick-me-up. But don't go crazy... three beans is about the max (unless you're going into combat).

"...and give me one of them biscotti things."

Biscotti In Italy, Biscotti refers to any type of cookie. However, in North America, "biscotti" refers to crisp cookies often containing nuts or flavored with anise. (More on biscotti).

Here at the Coffee Zone we feature four flavors of gourmet biscottie: Almond, Grasshopper Mint, Zebra Hazelnut and German Chocolate. They're shipped in fresh every week from San Francisco.

If you like to soften your biscotti with a quick dip in the coffee, be advised that Rocket Fuel will turn your biscotti to mush if over-dunked.

Dane and Dustin (are not a 50's vocal duo)

Deandustin

We'll get around to better photos and proper bios, but for now we want to give props to two of the men behind The Man. If Dane (left) is Mick Jagger at the Coffee Zone, Dustin (right) is Keith Richards.

Here you see Dustin demonstrating his signature "Two-Handed Mustard Blast" while flashing the dazzling smile that makes it hard to keep the ladies away.

Lunch at the Zone. Ummmm!

That sound you're hearing is my stomach shouting out as T and Dane take lunches to hungry customers. It's lunch time at the Zone and the Spinach Pie, Greek Salad and Gyro Sandwich are looking tasty. All made in the CZ kitchen (which you can see if you tiptoe and lean way over the counter).

Number of Web Heads growing

Our list of Coffee Zones Web Heads is growing. Slow but steady. When Taisir returns from Boston, we'll draw a name and do our first give-away. We're trying to come up with a good way to introduce you to the Web Heads and think a flickr set might be fun. We've invited the Heads to send us a photo. We'll see how that goes.

Taisir has built a nice community in and around the Coffee Zone and he's trying to use this blog and his Twitter page to expand on that community. More customers is always nice but the idea is help folks get acquainted. (But only if they want to. Some Zoners like their privacy).
